Occasional Sunday Articles. Article No. SPS010. Misfortunes-Fortunes Dichotomy
What may look to us as terrible turn of events in our lives, may prove to be a preamble for a change of direction to the better, as long as we keep close to God through let say prayers. We will never know precisely why bad things, or what are also referred to as misfortunes, happen to us especially at the time of their occurrence. That is because, occurrence of misfortunes may be twofold. On the one hand, misfortunes could be a result of God's actions for taking us out of potentially dangerous situations that we may not be aware of, due to ignorance, or Satan's grip on us. When Satan has firm grip on us, we will perceive potentially dangerous situations like let say, associations with dangerous lovers or friends, as great social milestones! As such, when God breaks the associations to save us, we will see the breakdown as a misfortune! If we keep on sticking to God after the breakdown, we will be astonished in the short or long run, with way our lives will change to the better, and even wonder why we probably became so miserable and confused at the time of the breakdown! On the other hand, misfortunes could be a result of Satan's destructive actions, that he often deliver through people who worship him. In such cases, misfortunes may be irreversible for those who worship Satan, hence not close to God. For those close to God, satanic misfortunes can be reversed through sticking to God, as well as being very patient because it may take long time before such misfortunes are reversed. Even for those who worship Satan, satanic misfortunes may be reversed by God, if they denounce Satan and come back to God's realm. As indicated earlier, misfortunes may also be misinterpreted as fortunes by those who worship Satan, or worship God but have been infiltrated by Satan. We will call such Satan induced "fortunes", pseudo-fortunes. Pseudo fortunes may be economic, social, political, technological, scientific, etc. Such fortunes are often potentially very dangerous to the individuals involved, and particularly to others and the society at large. Examples of pseudo-fortunes and their deleterious effects may include the following: 1) Wealth that is attained through exploitation of others and society at large, through let say: making massive profits while paying unreasonable low hence exploitative wages to workers; evading corporation tax and other forms of revenue taxes; looting or paying unreasonably low prices for raw materials and other production inputs that are collectively owned by society like water, electricity, transportation infrastructure, etc. 2) Wealth accruing from illicit trade or business that exploits others through unlawful mechanisms like human trafficking; use of child labor; targeting vulnerable people for buyers of traded goods; etc. 3) Political power that is attained non-democratically or through manipulation of the democratic process and often used to oppress others through: denying individual freedom and other types of human rights; torturing and killing innocent people without trial; causing mass killing and human suffering through declaration of unnecessary wars; etc. 4) Marriages or romantic relationships of convenience. In other words, sexual relationships guised as love relationships, while in reality are based on other motives like economic, social/cultural, and even political motives. For victims, such relationships may be worse than not having a relationship at all, as they may lead to very severe personal consequences. 5) Technological and scientific milestones that may lead towards serious global damage through let say: destruction of some natural processes; mass destruction of animal and plant lives on earth; etc. It is important to note at this juncture that misunderstanding and flawed response to misfortunes, as well as fluctuations in our relationship with God, may make us very susceptible to constant or repetitive misfortunes, or what can also be called vicious circles of misfortunes. We will explain this further as thus.. First, we have to realize that God never makes mistakes, and a situation he has reversed for the sake of our safety will never be safe for us again even with what we may consider as amendments. When we are certain that a misfortune is a result of God's action aimed at saving us from a potentially dangerous situation, we should never ever revisit the situation in question again. Any attempt to do that may lead to similar misfortunes again. There are attempts to go back to situations that are potentially dangerous, after God has saved us, that often lead to vicious circles of misfortunes in our lives! Second, vicious circles of misfortunes can occur to one who suffers satanic misfortunes because of not been close to God, but then gets closer to God who reverses the situation, if after the reversal one do not maintain the closeness to God. If one does that, Satan takes the chance and unleashes satanic misfortunes again. Closeness to God may lead to reversal of the misfortunes again as God has no limit to the number of times he can help those who come back to him, and depending whether one is aware of what is happening or not, the circle of satanic misfortunes and their reversal may continue almost indefinitely. To conclude this article, we would like to say that people should take misfortunes in their lives very seriously, as they may indicate flawed individual decision making, with God intervening for those who worship him. Misfortunes may also indicate closeness to Satan hence faults in our relationship with God. Furthermore, misfortunes may be signs of infiltration of Satan into our lives albeit we may be very close to God. Misfortunes should therefore be analyzed very critically in relation to one's spiritual status in order to know how to respond to them.
